Power Plant Assistants will be assigned to either Operations or Fuel Handling. In this special temporary position, you will perform work in and around a power plant including work performed in and around the turbine, pump room, boiler and fuel handling equipment. •Starting wage for this position of $31.68 per hour •This is a special temporary position. As such, there is a point where the project will end. This special temporary position is estimated to last until the retirement of the Plant, approximately 16 months. At the end of this project, and if no continuing position exists, employment will end. •Hours for Power Plant Assistants in Operations are a 5 week rotation of 12 hour days (6:00am-6:00pm) and 12 hour nights (6:00pm-6:00am). •Hours for Power Plant Assistants in Fuel Handling will be either a 10 hour day shift (6:00am-4:00pm) or 10 hour evening shift (4:00pm-2:00am). •Additional overtime is required for vacation, vacancy coverage, and needs of service. Schedule is subject to change depending on plant needs. Applications will be accepted until a qualified pool of candidates is received. Job Responsibilities : •Routine cleaning and janitorial work. •Provides stores support. •Performs unskilled and semi-skilled physical work required in the various operations of any department of the power plant. •Performs maintenance of buildings, equipment and grounds as assigned. •Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to the position. Job Qualifications : We are seeking:•General knowledge of mathematics and science at the high school level •Ability to work with others •Mechanical ability •Knowledge of fuel-handling or heavy equipment and the layout and operation of a generating station. •Ability to perform the physical requirements for the job. •Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group. In addition, preferred candidates will have: 2 years experience and/or equivalent in an electric generating facility, steam generating station and/or a coal yard fuel handling operation Our Values: How we Work Live Safety.
