The area offers a friendly community and a great place to call home! For this role, we are looking for a licensed journey Line Technician to work both independently and alongside crews as needed. Primarily working in an assigned outlying gas and electric area away from the district office. In this role you are responsible for promoting the interests of the company, upholding prestige, interpreting and applying policies, improving public relations, and maintaining company property. In this position, you will take after-hours emergency and outage calls. Due to this on-call responsibility, you must reside within vicinity of customer base and work area, at manager discretion. Job Responsibilities : •Detects and corrects faults on distribution systems and report transmission system defects. •Connects and disconnects customers and reads meters. •Distributes bills, collect accounts, and adjust complaints. •Explains company rules, rates and policies. Follows established procedures and knows and follows pertinent regulations. •In some cases, maintain a small hydro plant and/or substation. •Services equipment such as installing and maintaining customer services. •Replaces house, transformer, and junction fuses. •Patrols lines and trims trees. •Climbs poles and assists line crews. •Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position. Job Qualifications : •One year experience as a journey line technician. •Reasonable knowledge of service work. •Ability to plan and execute work with very little supervision. •Thorough knowledge of company Safety Rules and Operating Practices and requirements of the State Electrical Code as it relates to line construction and maintenance and State codes relating to gas operations, construction and maintenance. •Proven sense of responsibility to the company and the public. •Some supervisory ability. •Possession of a valid driver's license; ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period. •Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job. •Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group. •Bachelors’ Degree in Physical Sciences, Environmental Science, or Engineering. •2-4 years experience as an Associate Environmental Consultant with demonstrated ability to perform the requirements of that position or some combination of an advanced degree in physical sciences, environmental sciences, engineering or related field and years of experience.

Knowledge of 49 CFR, Part 192, Subpart N, Operator Qualification (OQ) requirements preferred. Basic knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS). Able to explain technical theories, functions, regulations, or procedures clearly and accurately. Able to work productively with limited supervision. ENGINEER II or III – NATURAL GAS & WATER Under the direction of the Supervisor-Natural Gas & Water Engineering or designee, performs independent professional and technical engineering duties necessary for the completion of the department's goals. Duties will be dependent upon the individual job classification and departmental workload and may include any or all of the duties described below. This position may supervise Co-op employees. (ENGINEER III – NATURAL GAS & WATER may supervise designers or other engineers in addition to co-ops.) Experience Required:
QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in applicable engineering discipline from a school with a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology is required. ENGINEER I – NATURAL GAS & WATER Engineering experience in applicable field is preferred but not required. ENGINEER II – NATURAL GAS & WATER A minimum of three years of engineering design experience in applicable field is required with utility experience preferred. ENGINEER III – NATURAL GAS & WATER A minimum of five years of recent engineering design experience applicable to the natural gas or water industries is required with utility experience preferred. Seven or more years of recent engineering design experience in an applicable field will be acceptable in lieu of the five years of specific experience. ENGINEER IV – NATURAL GAS & WATER A minimum of eight years of recent engineering design experience applicable to the - natural gas or water industries is required with utility experience preferred. Ten or more years of recent engineering design experience in an applicable field will be acceptable in lieu of the eight years of specific experience. Licensing/Certification: ENGINEER I – NATURAL GAS & WATER Must have a valid Missouri driver’s license (minimum Class F). A valid certificate in Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) is preferred. ENGINEER II – NATURAL GAS & WATER A valid certificate in Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) is required. A valid driver’s license (minimum Class F) is required. ENGINEER III – NATURAL GAS & WATER A valid Missouri PE Registration Certificate is required; PE licensure from another state will allow for hiring at the Engineer III level but applicant will be required to obtain a Missouri PE license within twelve months. Exceptional utility engineering experience beyond the minimum requirements may be considered in lieu of a PE license. A valid driver’s license (minimum Class F) is required. ENGINEER IV – NATURAL GAS & WATER A valid Missouri PE Registration Certificate is required. Individuals who have a PE Registration from another state may be hired as Engineer IV but will be required to obtain a Missouri Professional Engineer Registration Certification within 12 months to remain at the Engineer IV level. A valid driver’s license (minimum Class F) is required. ENGINEER II – NATURAL GAS & WATER • A broad working knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts and practices. • Ability to: o Perform portions of broader work assignments under the direction of a more experienced engineer. o Plan, organize, and coordinate technical work. o Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. o Work courteously with customers, co-workers, and individuals in other departments. o Work under pressure and meet close deadlines. • Proficient experience with AutoCAD. • Proficient experience with Microsoft office suite. • Interfaces with outside agencies. ENGINEER III – NATURAL GAS & WATER • Considerable knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, problem solving techniques, and procedures. • Ability to: o Plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work and work closely with others. o Work courteously with customers, co-workers, and individuals in other departments. o Work under pressure and meet close deadlines. o Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. o Teach and mentor less experienced engineers and co-ops. • Proficient experience with AutoCAD. • Proficient experience with Microsoft office suite. • Interfaces with outside agencies at all levels. ENGINEER IV – NATURAL GAS & WATER • Good understanding of City Utilities’ policies and procedures as well as outside governing regulations and standards pertaining to the natural gas and water distribution systems. • Ability to: o Plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work and work closely with others. o Design, plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work at all levels of complexity and effectively handle numerous assignments simultaneously. o Demonstrate and interpret policies and procedures, and have a good working knowledge of national, state, and local laws and regulations and apply utility engineering practices and techniques. o Work courteously with customers, co-workers, and individuals in other departments. o Work under pressure and meet close deadlines. o Teach, mentor, and oversee less experienced engineers and co-ops. o Supervisor and/or lead contractors as a project lead with a teamwork philosophy. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Proficient experience with AutoCAD. • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office suite. Physical Requirements: Typically, sedentary work. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and receive detailed information through oral communication. Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and close visual acuity to operate a computer is required. Position may require bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Also, may require lifting up to 20 pounds, on occasion. Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Some outside field work as necessary. Miscellaneous Requirements: Subject to Department of Transportation’s and/or Public Service Commission’s drug testing requirements. Must be able to work successfully with diverse groups of people. If an individual meets the eligibility requirements for an Engineer III or IV, a peer review will be conducted to determine if he/she meets the requirements for advancement from an Engineer II to Engineer III or from an Engineer III to Engineer IV. The criteria used to determine if the individual should be advanced to the next level will include, but not be limited to: performance; level of responsibility; knowledge, skills, and abilities. Testing: Testing may be required.
