Araceli Cobern of Peoples Gas Receives MEA Meritorious Service Award

MEA Energy Association (MEA) is proud to present Araceli Cobern, customer service associate of Peoples Gas in Chicago, a WEC Energy Group company, with a Meritorious Service Award for assisting a wounded elderly customer.

Cobern phoned an 89-year-old customer about a billing question. While on the phone, the customer mentioned that she was seriously injured from a fall and was home alone. Cobern reached out to a family member on the customer’s behalf and called 911, staying on the phone with the customer until the paramedics arrived.

“It is a privilege to present the Meritorious Service Awards,” said John Gann, MEA Vice President. “These awards serve to highlight the outstanding individuals in the energy industry who rise up when called and make a positive contribution to society.”

Applications for the Meritorious Service Award are reviewed and approved by the Executive Committee of MEA’s Board of Directors. Read about all MEA awards at https://www.meaenergy.org/outreach/awards/.
