MEA Launches New Leadership Development Series for Energy Industry

In March, MEA Energy Association (MEA) will launch a new online Leadership Development Series, designed to strengthen the leadership skills of professionals in the energy industry. Based on the successes of a program called MEA Leadership Boot Camp, offered from 2014 through 2020, MEA is a taking a new approach to guide participants in their personal leadership development.

“I’ve never met anyone who didn’t want to lead well,” said Barb Dusek, HR director and program facilitator with over 30 years’ experience working with leadership programs. “Realizing that leadership effectiveness requires constant awareness and continued development is a first step. This webinar series will put you on that path!”

MEA knows that “one size fits all” leadership programming is not always the best option. This series is made up of three standalone month-long programs. Each program in the series focuses on one competency that will make a significant difference in performance . Plus, each program is designed to be complementary to one another so individuals can choose one topic of interest or join MEA for all three.

Series 1 Managing Teams: Barb Dusek presents “Get the Most Out of Your Team” | March 2021
Series 2 Leadership Habits: Ric Hinkie presents “Change Your Habits to Further Your Career” | June 2021
Series 3 Maximizing Skills: Julie Berg presents “Become a Better Leader” | October 2021

Each four-week series includes:

  • Four 90-minute live webinars, presented and facilitated by professional leadership experts on a unique leadership topic
  • One leadership book
  • One personal assessment
  • Individual feedback from direct manager
  • Group collaboration
  • Energy industry specific applications
  • 7 Professional Development Hours (PDHs)
  • BONUS: Free access to 21 online leadership courses

“We designed the new leadership series for energy professionals. The small group interaction allows for greater feedback, personal development, and a network of others who work in the same industry and want to improve their leadership skills,” said Mark Bechtel, leadership programs manager, of MEA.
